I was born and raised in Serbia and grew up with Dobermans who taught me the unconditional love of dogs and thus my passion began. In 2001 I moved to the US and bought two poodles. After visiting the top groomers in the Chicago area for their services, I realized the art and beauty of dog grooming and decided that this was the career I was searching for. I attended Nash Academy of Animal Arts and graduated in February of 2010. While in school for grooming, I worked at a local grooming salon where I was lucky enough to learn from the top ranked groomers in the country. During this time, I was also introduced to the world of competitive grooming. I won multiple First Place grooming awards, numerous Best in Show awards and was nominated for Rising Star of the Year through Barkleigh Productions! As an active competitor for years, I learned correct breed profiles, mastering scissoring techniques, and can skillfully hand strip wire coated breeds.
I have been in the grooming industry for 13 years an won multiple awards throughout my competitive grooming career. I am currently a member of the Illinois State Grooming team through I.J.A. (Nash Academy of Dog Grooming). I have been awarded for my grooming skills on hand stripped terriers, poodles, schnauzers and sporting breeds in addition to creative grooming. I am certified through the American Kennel Club and the National Dog Grooming Association of America (N.D.G.A.A.). I am currently working on showing my standard poodle in conformation through the AKC.
From a young age I always loved animals! Growing up I always had animals in my life, from pet dogs and birds, to caring for a wild animals and nursing him back to health.
I has always been an animal lover.
I started my first job working with animals at 15 years old. I worked at a boarding and grooming facility. I learned many things about boarding, grooming, training and agility. At 17 I attended Great Lakes Academy Dog Grooming school.

I competed in creative styling grooming competitions and won many awards for my creative designs, including the cover of Groomer to Groomer magazine and was even on Fox News in the morning with one of my creative grooms.
Later I pursued an even bigger goal of making GroomTeam. It’s like the Olympics of dog grooming. I was ranked one of the top 10 groomers in the country for GroomTeam for 6 years. I have won many awards including Best in Show, Best all Around Groomer, Best Scissor Dog Award, and was also nominated for a Groomer of the Year.
I have developed many skills in grooming including grooming cats, hand stripping, Show Grooming, and even showing my Kerry Blue in confirmation. I became a grooming manager and worked for over 12 years at a large and busy grooming shop.

KAITLYN MACKEN
I have always had a natural affinity for animals of all kinds and grew up surrounded by nature in Port Richey, Florida. My love for dogs began at birth with our catahoula mix, Cowboy, and our home was never without a furry friend or two(or three!).
I began my journey in the dog grooming industry over 9 years ago just out of high school as a dog bather. I immediately loved it, and knew it was what I wanted to do. I ended up moving to Chicago in 2013, attending grooming academy in 2015, and became a beginner pet stylist after finishing over 160 classroom hours, and over 700 field practice hours. I haven't stopped learning and improving myself since.
I was promoted to Salon Manager about a year after academy. I spent 5 years learning not only about grooming, but learning to lead a happy, productive team along the way. In Spring of 2021 I gladly joined the team of groomers at Novi Grooming, where I am continuing my education on handstripping, breed profiles, and my overall skillset.
I am a certified Canine Esthetician, an certified AKC S.A.F.E groomer, and I am constantly seeking continued education to better serve my clients.
